Santorini nail art may be the closest I ever got to Greece. I have always dreamed of going to the place on a holiday but I got too caught up with so many concerns.
When Santorini, Greece is mentioned, I’m reminded of the colors white and blue plus a splash of solid colors here and there. I imagine the white building walls with its blue rooftop along with the blue color of both the ocean and the sky. Then there are also some other hues that add accent to these basic color palettes. Okay, my visualization of the place may be based on photos I see online. But I guess it’s what the place really look like even in real life, right?
I frequently envision myself under the warm heat of the sun as I gaze the deep blue ocean or at the light blue sky. For now, however, I’m content with simply looking at my Santorini nail art. Check this post for the tutorial.
Santorini Nail Art Tutorial Display The Colors Of Greece
I took these colors as my design inspiration for my Santorini nail art. On days when I want to take a vacation but can’t, I just paint this nail design and I’m immediately feeling refreshed. I feel like I’m on a holiday already as I sip cocktails on the island. This may sound funny to some yet that’s how I totally feel.
Would you want to find out for yourself if my Santorini nail art can really transport you to the famous tourist destination? Well, there’s only one way to find out, and that’s by recreating this tutorial in the convenience of your own homes. All set, loves?
Prepare these things to hack this Santorini nail art:
- White nail polish
- Arctic blue nail polish
- Navy blue nail polish
- Frosted peach nail polish
- Peel-off polish
- Stripping tape
- Tweezers
- Base and top coat
Step 1: All about the base
Begin this Santorini nail art by coating your nails with a base coat. It’s always a must as the base coat protects the nails. Once done top it with the glittery dark peach nail polish. Apply liberally to really get that pop of color. Pretty!
Step 2: Apply peel-off
While the Santorini nail art is a relatively easy design to DIY, it can get messy considering the colors involved. Protect yourself from the mess by applying a peel-off coat on the skin surrounding the nails. Apply as much as you think necessary. If the peel-off polish is not available, exchange it for glue diluted a bit of water and it will work the same.
Step 3: Stick ‘em tapes
It’s now time to create the outline of the design. Using the tape, make three levels of an upside down v-shape, creating a chevron outline. Make sure there’s enough space in between to ensure all colors are seen and given emphasis. From this, you can create four spaces to fill with color.
Step 4: Start with white
With the stripping tapes in place, you’re now ready to fill in the spaces. First, begin with painting the bottom most space with white nail polish. Use the same nail polish color to fill in the second space from the top of the nail.
Step 5: Bring in the sky
It’s now time to bring in the color of the sky into this Santorini nail art. Using the arctic blue nail polish, paint the second space from the bottom of the nails. Try not to doze into dreamland when applying this nail polish color no matter how dreamy it looks.
Step 6: Swim into the ocean
This Santorini nail art would, of course, not be complete without a color that depicts the place’s deep blue sea. So in comes the navy blue nail polish. The color is undeniably reminiscent of the ocean on the Greek island. Paint this in the upper most space on the nails.
Step 7: Take it all out
Once done with painting and several minutes after it dries, take off all that needs to be taken off. I’m talking about the stripping tapes and the peel-off coat. Carefully do this step so as not to chip off the color.
Step 8: Gloss it
Just one more step, and you’re all good! Finish off your Santorini nail art with a top coat. The top coat protects the color as well as gives the design a glossy and shiny finish.
