Is your nail polish collection steadily increasing? Maybe it’s time to think about nail polish storage ideas to organize all of those bottles and nail art equipment.
You don’t need to buy really expensive cabinets, although that may just happen in the future when you’ve acquired dozens of polish sets. If you’re just starting to build your army, then I suggest trying this easy DIY nail polish storage idea made out of old boxes you have lying around the house.
Nail Polish Storage DIY To Display Your Favorite Shades
Whether you’re a nail art freak like or just starting to build your polish collection, you need to store your collection properly. Having an organized place to keep your polishes in will help you tremendously in future projects. Trust me; I’ve been through that before. 😉
With proper nail polish storage, you won’t have to deal with messy cabinets or desks, bottles rolling under the bed or spillage.
You don’t have to rob a bank for this storage box as well. Just some scrap materials and a bit of creativity to create this wonderful DIY idea. These boxes can also be used to keep jewelry and makeup in.
What you’ll need for this DIY nail polish storage box:
- Old cardboard boxes, shoe boxes, beauty boxes, etc
- An old book or newspapers
- Scissors
- Glue
- Sponge
- Black tape
Step 1: Prepare Your Materials
First off, choose a box that you think will fit all of your nail polishes and kits. You can use either a shoe box or some old beauty boxes. You can even try big boxes with attached lids to make it easy for you to open and close your storage box.
Step 2: Prepare Paper Cover
After choosing the box you’ll use, rip off pages from an old book. Just make sure no one’s going to be reading said book anymore! Otherwise, you’re going to have to replace it with a new copy.
If you’re a book lover like myself, you can opt to use newspapers instead. Old magazines will work, too, if you prefer your box to be more colorful and fun.
Step 3: Cover Box With Book Pages
Sponge on white glue all over the outer portion of your box. Then pat on the book pages while the glue is still wet. Make sure to flatten the paper to get rid of air pockets. Repeat this until all the sides are covered. Slap on some more paper to cover gaps.
You don’t have to cover the inside part of the box with paper. Just line the edges with black electric tape to give it a cleaner edge.
Step 4: Box Lids For Base
Use a separate show box lid as a base for your polishes inside the box. This will help keep them in place when you move it around. As an added precaution, you can glue the lids inside the box to keep it in place.
After attaching the base, you can now start filling the box with your polishes, stamps, kits, and nail gems.
Now you’ve got yourself a movable nail polish storage box!
