The NYFW 2017 S/S fashion show didn’t just set the tone for next spring’s trendy outfits. It also featured some of the nail designs to hit it big in the next couple of months. See which ones you think will catch on in the next year.
The NYFW 2017 S/S Nail Trends You Need To See
In the past, fashion enthusiasts only look to fashion shows as a platform to see upcoming trends in clothing. Nowadays, everyone looks forward to literally everything being presented on the runway. From the makeup to hairstyles and of course, nail art!
The NYFW 2017 S/S show certainly didn’t disappoint with that regard. The designers enlisted the assistance of famous celebrity nail artists, creating nail designs that fit perfectly with their creations. These nail experts turned to OPI, Essie, Zoya, Christian Louboutin, M.A.C., Morgan Taylor and several other notable lacquer companies to make trend-starter designs.
Check out some of the best NYFW 2017 S/S nail trends below!
1. Vera Wang
Inspired by the Victorian era, nail stylist Jin Soon Choi painted a simple yet high-impact, thick line in the middle of the models’ fingers. A matte top coat was then painted over the polish to give the design a much more dramatic look.
2. Jeremy Scott
Miss Pop opted for bright colors with a surprisingly simple design for Jeremy Scott’s NYFW 2017 S/S collection. The design starts off with a bright pastel base on long fingers. She then dabbed on a contrasting color using the eraser end of a pencil.
3. Opening Ceremony
Naomi Yasuda created some bold, graphic nails for Opening Ceremony Pageant to the People runway show. The nail stylist used China Glaze polish to create the design – black half of the nail with different strips of colors on the top of the black polish.
4. Rebecca Minkoff
The nail art designs used Essie for this Rebecca Minkoff NYFW 2017 S/S fashion show. The alternate cherry red and nude French Nails screams edgy! I’d personally wear this design myself.
5. Novis
Celebrity nail artist Alicia Torello used Christian Louboutin polishes to create a minimalist negative space design. I expect the negative space, minimalist trend that gripped the nail art world in 2016 will continue in the coming year as well.
6. Marissa Web
Here’s another negative space manicure. This time, however, Miss Pop created a side French tip design using some tape and Zoya Snow White polish. It’s clean and simple but also an innovative idea to the classic French nail.
7. Rodarte
I personally think this design is unique and fresh. Instead of the usual manicure, Tracylee opted to give the models at the Rodarte show some “cuticle bling.” Keeping the nails nude and clean, she applied a thin rim of Morgan Taylor Glitter & Gold on the cuticles instead.
Check out this side French tip design similar to what Miss Pop created for Marissa Web’s models!
There were a lot of other manicures introduced during the NYFW 2017 S/S fahion show. However, I personally think these designs will be the ones to catch on. Which one caught your eye? Let me know which manicure you’ll want to try in the comments section below.
