Sparkly Color Block Nails For The Queen Of Your Life
If you’re having a hard time looking for the perfect gift to give the most important woman in your life this Mother’s Day, try treating her to a little R and R? I’m sure she’ll love spending a day together at the spa or salon.
If you can’t quite go to a spa or salon, however, pamper your mom right in the comforts of your home. Recreate these gorgeous color block nails on her nails to make your gift more personalized!
What you’ll need for these very special color block nails:
- Base, top coat, and peach pink polish – Formula X, The System to Go Alive
- Metallic silver polish – Formula X, Metamorphic or Aphrodite
- Mint green polish – Formula X, Inspiring or Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color, Mint Sorbet
- Purple polish – Formula X, A Little Sexy or 3 Kleancolor Nail Polish Pastel Pink, Purple, and Blue Collection
- Thin striping tape
Step 1: Prep and Strengthen
With every nail art, a thorough prep routine is very important. Clean your mom’s nails properly and make sure to strengthen them with the right base coat.
During this step, you can massage your mom’s hands to ease whatever tension she has there.
Step 2: Peach Pink Base For The Color Block Nails
After prepping her nails, coat the natural nails with a pretty peach pink polish. You can also use a pale or nude pink for the base.
Step 3: Position Striping Tape
After the pink base dries completely, attach the thin striping tapes on the nails in a triangular position. The three tapes should resemble a little tepee. This should leave you with four parts of the nail to paint over.
Step 4: Compartmentalized Polishes
Paint one or two sides of the nail with a metallic silver polish. Then paint another block with the mint-colored polish and the other with purple.
Step 5: Protect The Nail Art
Rip off the striping tape but try to keep it from spilling to the other blocks on the nail. Then apply a top coat over the design to keep it intact for a few days.
