DIY water marble nail art is not as complicated as it seems, trust me. Have you tried water marble nail art? It’s a pretty mesmerizing technique, but a lot of people are hesitant to try it because it looks so difficult to replicate. Though it’s eye-catching and beautiful, it can get a bit messy at times.
Below is a no-mess water marble nail art tutorial from Alps Nail Art so you can master this trend with confidence!
DIY Water Marble Nail Design
You’ll need
- A couple of nail polishes
In this tutorial, we used:
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear: Pacific Blue, Cherry Red, Mellow Yellow and White On
- Water
- Small cup
- Toothpick
- Brush
- Cuticle pusher
- Scissors
Step 1
First, you start by allowing a drip to fall onto the water. You should see the polish drip disperse across the surface to form a thin film. Choose your next nail polish immediately. Aim for the center of your first nail polish.
Tip: Try to drop around 8 layers of colors.
Step 2
Take a toothpick and gently drag through the colors to make a pattern. Start at the center and pull outward. Have fun on this part and get creative. There’s no ‘right’ way to do this step.
Tip: Avoid the outer circle as this has begun to dry.
Step 3
Let the design dry for 4-5 hours. For best results, let them dry overnight. Make 10 swatches for your nails.
Step 4
Once they’re dry, use a fan brush or any broad, flat object to carefully lift the dried water marble swatch. Don’t worry if the outer layer breaks, we won’t use it.
Step 5
Apply a white nail polish on your clean nails. Don’t wait for it to completely dry. You need the nails to be slightly tacky for the swatches to stick on them. Press your marble swatch onto your nail using a cuticle pusher or orange wood stick.
Step 6
Clean the edges by cutting them off with small scissors. Seal with a top coat and wait for it to dry. And you’re done! Repeat the same steps on your other nails.
Did you enjoy this tutorial? Now you can join the trend with this innovative how-to! Plus, you don’t need any brushes, dotting tools, rhinestones or anything. Have fun!
