Prep your nails and apply your base coat.
Tips: Always prep your nails properly before getting into any kind of nail art. The same goes for this design.
Apply your base coat properly and let it dry. This will help protect your natural nails from all the chemicals from a constant nail polish application.
This might seem a bit tedious but, I swear, you’ll thank me for it when you get strong and healthy nails even with constant nail art changes.
Step 2: Paint Your Nails with a Pink Nail Polish

Instead of the usual rich red, paint your nails with pink nail polish for your base color. It’s still within the official shade of the holiday but it’s different enough to set your nails apart.
Try to apply the pink base evenly. Be careful about applying too much polish.
Step 3: Apply Silver Glitter Nail Polish

After making sure that your base color is completely dry, start painting on the glittered nail polish. Start near the cuticle area, slowly drag the nail polish brush down with a light stroke.
Silver glitter is used in this design since it contrasts perfectly with the nude pink shade.
Step 4: Silver Streaking

Using a striper, apply long lines of a silver polish down to the middle of your nail. This will give the manicure its falling glitter effect. Doesn’t it look pretty?
Step 5. Seal in the Design

Once you’re satisfied with the design, apply a fast-drying topcoat to seal in the design. This will help keep your falling glitter nail art last longer.
Clean up any excess polish on the edges of your nails with a cosmetic brush or Q-tip dipped in nail polish remover.

Falling Glitter Nail Art Tutorials and Nail Designs
1. Reverse Falling Glitters on White Nails
It’s the season for weddings too, and white nail polish with falling glitters nail art is a dream. It couldn’t be any more perfect, especially if you want a white detail on you and cannot wear white.
Instead of applying the glitters from the base, this time, we’ll apply the glitter streaks from the tips.
What You’ll Need:
- Clear/natural nail polish for the base
- White nail polish
- China Glaze Nail Lacquer, Electrify
- Makeup sponge
Instructions:
- Prep your nails and apply the base coat.
- Paint your nails with a thick wash of white nail polish.
- Paint a makeup sponge with the glitter dust rose gold nail polish, then dab the tips of your nails with the glitters. You can also use a nail polish liner to apply prominent streaks of the glitter in your nails from the tip towards the base.
- Let dry, apply topcoat, and you’re done!

2. Falling Silver Glitter Nail Art
If edgy is the look you’re going for this Valentine’s season, go for the silver falling glitters on black nails design. You can work on different nail shaped but it looks subtler and more reserved on square nails.
By the looks of this glitter nail art, you would think the design uses black nail polish after the base coat, but the process is more fun than that. Here’s the super easy technique to get the sexy look to match a metallic prom dress or a little black dress on your date.
What You’ll Need:
- Metallic silver nail polish
- Silver glitter nail polish
- Black nail polish
- Silver glitter striper
Instructions:
- Prep your nails and apply your base coat.
- Apply metallic silver nail polish first, then a thick splash of silver nail polish.
- Next, apply black nail polish on the tip of your nails.
- With silver glitter striper, apply short strokes of the silver glitter towards the tip of your nails. Make sure to cover the distinct line between the silver and black nail polish.
- Let the glitters and nail polish dry, then finish with a thick topcoat.
Tip: Try doing it in an all-black nail polish using our basic pink falling glitter nail art.
3. Falling Glitter Dots Nail Design
Want a chunkier glitter nail art? This pink glitter nails design is just the thing, and it’s super simple to do, too.
What You’ll Need:
- Clear/natural nail polish for the base
- Pink nail polish
- Pink glitter hexagon sequins nail art flakes
- Dotting tool
Instructions:
- Apply base coat.
- Paint your nails with light pink nail polish.
- With a dotting tool, use the tip to carefully apply the pink glitters on the base of your nails near the cuticle. Use clear nail polish to stick the glitters.
- Stick glitters thickly on the base, but sparingly as you go up, in a falling glitter effect.
- Let dry, then apply your topcoat.
Wasn’t that so easy to do? I daresay these falling glitters are easier to do than the dripping nail art design inspired by Kylie Jenner’s lip kit. This design will surely compliment your Valentine’s Day outfit!
